WeVerify

WeVerify has been developed under the European Research and Innovation Program ‘Horizon 2020’ and is based in an approach that enhances participatory verification of falsified online content, through the development of a participatory open source paltform that enables collaboratice fact-checking by citizens and professional journalists.

The project is supported by a multidisciplinary consortium, including university institutions, news verification organizations, internationally recognized media, independent journalists and academics across the Europe. All members aim to address the challenges of the digital age in terms of online misinformation detecting misleading content on social media networks.

WeVerify’s Objectives:

  • Addressing the challenges of content verification through the adoption of participatory attitudes and utilizing open source algorithms and machine learning.
  • Detecting and monitoring online content on social media through collaborative verification, social media analysis, micro-targeted debunking and the creation of a public database of well known misinformation examples.
  • Consolidating ‘WeVerify’as an open source platform that enables collaborative content verification between citizens, professional journalists and researchers from different academic disciplines.
  • Strengthening citizens’ resilience and cultivating a participatory culture among newsrooms, with the aim of including the public in the process of content verification.
